This past Monday I visited the museum once again. The scientist I work with wasn't there, so I was left with a few tasks. Lately we have had far fewer butterflies in the area I work in, and I'm not entirely sure why. It might be because we're in a period of change and reorganization, but could also have to do with the suppliers we receive cocoons from. Either way, I took some new butterflies into the main exhibit, but there really weren't too many to release.
I worked in the main exhibit for a bit and then returned to the room I spend most of my time in. We use a variety of colored pins to identify cocoons with butterflies that failed to emerge, failed to fly, were diseased, or had parasites. Unfortunately someone dropped the box that we keep all the pins in, so I spent the next 30 minutes organizing the rest of them back to the way they were. I honestly don't mind doing that sort of thing- it's very satisfying- but I did remind me that the work there is truly a job, menial tasks are inescapable.
I feel like I've begun repeating myself or at the very least I'd like to talk about some different things, but I think I might focus on the other bugs in our exhibit.

Two Parthenos sylvia- you can see their wings closed and opened.
A Longwing and Morpho.
Some Rice Papers and their gold cocoons.
